2014 ITTES opens its doors

The curtain has lifted on Melbourne's 2014 International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show, which runs until Sunday, April 6

The doors have opened to Melbourne’s 2014 International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show, which is showcasing the wares of 357 exhibitors – including 15 truck manufacturers and 40 trailer manufacturers – over 60,000m² at the Victorian capital’s Royal Showgrounds.

With products from Australia, the US, the UK, France, Sweden, Germany, China, and Thailand, among others, the four-day event will showcase a truly international smorgasbord of the trucking industry’s latest and greatest products and services.

Show Director Clint Hendry said this year’s ITTES would also see the realisation of a number of new initiatives.

“The most exciting development about this year’s show is the new Main Arena Pavilion,” he said.

“Based on feedback from the last ITTES we made a decision to compress the footprint of the show, so we’ve essentially got a bigger show in two-thirds of the size. We have 150 exhibitors in over 4000m² of temporary structure there; it was a massive production to pull together and it’s something we’re very proud of.”

Hendry said this year’s event would have a greater emphasis on the general public.

“This year’s ITTES will have the first ever trial of the Sunday,” he said.

“In previous shows we’ve always tried to focus on the trade. We’ve still done that but a lot of our PR and general media this year has focused on the public. Registrations are well and truly up so that’s very positive, but we’ll be looking forward to seeing how that pans out over the weekend.

Helping those visitors through the gate at this year’s ITTES are two more events bound to please any truck enthusiast, says Hendry.

“This year we have our inaugural ‘show and shine’ event, which will take place on Sunday with 40 of Australia’s most customised trucks, all provided by invitation only. Dovetailing into that we’ve got our heritage collection; we’ve assembled 70 of Australia’s finest restored trucks, which I’m sure will give many visitors a trip down memory lane.”

The 2014 International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show will run until Sunday, April 6. While the Thursday and Friday are trade-only days (10am to 5pm), the event is open to the public on Saturday (10am to 5pm) and Sunday (10am to 4pm). Admission is free.
