25th Anniversary Freightliner Coronado revealed

Just 25 limited-edition Coronado 114 trucks have been produced to celebrate Freightliner's 25th anniversary of operations in Australia
Freightliner Australia has lifted the covers off its ultra-exclusive Coronado 114 25th Anniversary Edition at a special media presentation made in Melbourne on the eve of the 2014 International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show.
Produced to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the brand’s entry into the Australian market, just 25 examples of the truck have been produced, each of them featuring a number of “hand-crafted enhancements”.
Powered by a 15-litre, 560hp Detroit Diesel engine mated to an 18-speed Eaton Fuller Roadranger transmission, the limited-edition Coronado 114 comes in a striking Bright Silver paint scheme with a Metallic Black chassis.
The truck rolls on Airliner suspension and comes fitted with driver-controlled diff locks, ABS brakes and traction control.
There’s no shortage of bling, with stainless steel at every turn, polished fuel tanks and an extensive external lighting set-up. LED headlights, driving lights and side fuel tank lights add to the appeal.
The opulent interior has 25th Anniversary leather trim on the seats and doors, an upgraded stereo system, sat-nav, UHF radio, fridge, Sealy mattress with Freightliner linen and chrome trim on the gauges, switches and doors, while both the driver and passenger ride on Xtreme HD seats.
The truck's presentation to Australia's truck media was also attended by Freightliner Australia's new General Manager, Kristi Walker, who had flown in from the USA earlier that day to assume her new role, and Chris Brandt, Area Sales Manager for Daimler Trucks North America.
Rod West, Senior Manager for Freightliner Australia, said the 25th Anniversary Coronado 114s were sure to turn heads.
“They certainly make an impressive statement with their extensive light design and LED headlamps,” he said.
The model will be the focus of a gala evening on Thursday, April 3, for 250 of Freightliner’s longstanding customers. West said the truck was a fitting tribute to Freightliner’s achievements in this country.
“Over the past 25 years Freightliner has introduced 14 models and sold in excess of 15,000 trucks,” he said.
“As a team we’re very proud that we contribute every day to Australia and to the Australian economy. We look forward to writing the next chapter of Freightliner’s history – one that we hope will be filled with even greater success.”
