The Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI) program supports implementable, value-for-money projects that deliver tangible improvements to heavy vehicle safety.
The federally funded grants program is administered by the NHVR on behalf of the Commonwealth Government, with an investment of over $28 million in 117 projects. Over the 6 rounds funded to date, successful projects are delivering outcomes aimed at making Australia’s roads safer for all users.
HVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said Round 7 HVSI grants are open to any industry group, organisation or council that can deliver improvements to heavy vehicle safety.

“There is only two weeks left to apply for HVSI funding – now is the time to submit projects that can make Australia’s roads safer for all road users and ultimately save lives.
“I urge anyone who has experienced first-hand how heavy vehicle operations could be improved by a targeted safety project, put your idea forward and make an impact.”
Round 7 projects must be implemented during the 2022-23 financial year and be completed within two years of commencement.
