At this time of year we’re usually visiting overseas truck shows, or at least poring over the digital press releases that are presented at such shows. However, Covid-19 has put paid to that.
As fallback we’ve been checking around the internet for international new equipment releases and, hopefully, we’ll have some more for you in coming weeks.
This Combilift innovation from Velsycon is said to broaden the use of hook-lift tipping superstructure to handle specialised items. The company’s aims are to make truck and trailer fleets more flixible, while enabling some transportable items to be redesigned to allow easier transportation.
A prime example is the portable silo, so most Velsycon units to date are for cylindrical-container transport. Combilift bodywork allows a cylindrical container to be loaded, transported and unloaded easily – either when empty or full.

However, the company points out that its system can also handle swap bodies, DIN 30722 containers, 20-foot shipping containers, flats and filter silos, using adapter frames.
Velsycon says that the hook arm on the Combilift can be moved hydraulically within its frame. As a result, it offers a flat container mount, offering a decisive advantage over standard roll-off tippers, when handling mobile refuse compressors in underground car parks.
In addition, interchangeable bodies and flats for transporting construction machinery, power units or bagged goods needed on building sites can be transported.
The silo skip loaders in Velsycon’s SASK range can handle and transport DIN silos up to 22.5 cubic metres as well as standard skips and PFT silos especially designed for skip loaders. The flexibility of this superstructure type can also be enhanced by the SASK-2T adapter frame, to pick up and carry two pocket silos as well.

Customised solutions are also achievable, including transporting and positioning vertical drilling rigs, and exchangeable concrete mixing units.
Interchangeable silos are an alternative to permanently installed upright silos, removing the need for construction approval processes. They’re also easily removed and brought to another site.
Filter units for wastewater treatment, mounted on DIN subframes, are being used with increasing frequency throughout Europe. The transportation and positioning process is significantly less time-consuming and cost-intensive when Velsycon superstructures are used, the company says, and there's no need for a positioning crane.
Velsycon also builds over-cab, front-loading collection superstructures that are removable. The hook roll-off tipper accommodates the entire unit consisting of lifting arms, compressor and compactor container. Once loaded on the Velsycon frame and connected to the vehicle PTO, the front-loading collection vehicle is ready for use.
