Actros owner rests easily
Tough Mercedes-Benz Actros provides peace of mind in tough conditionsWA Sand and Haulage owner Tyson Inceoz reckons his fleet of Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks helps him sleep at night.
He says the strength and reliability of the Actros was highlighted recently when one of his fleet was used on assignment at a mining project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
"Every day I know my trucks won’t break down, so I sleep very well." Tyson says.
Perth-based WA Sand and Haulage operates a fleet of 37 trucks, with almost all coming from the Daimler Trucks family, including 25 Mercedes-Benz Actros and six Freightliner Coronado models.
The company is onsite at a series of major road projects in the West, carting sand, gravel, limestone and asphalt and is currently working on the $1 billion Gateway WA project near Perth Airport.
It also does some work in outback Western Australia such as the job near Tom Price in the Pilbara where it carted road base for a mining project.
The other trucks were traditional American or American-style models and their drivers didn’t think much of the Mercedes-Benz when it first arrived.
"Everybody laughed at us. 'You come here with a Mercedes?' they said, but it didn’t miss a beat," Tyson says.
"Our truck was working every day... The mine manager wanted to know how come our truck doesn’t break down."
WA Sand and Haulage runs a mixture of six-cylinder and V8 Actros models, with the latter used for multiple trailer work.
Tyson has always been a Mercedes-Benz fan, although he did experiment with other trucks a few years ago before returning to the Mercedes fold.
He says one reason he is so happy with Mercedes-Benz trucks is the Daimler Trucks Perth dealer, which has been operated by its current owner, AHG, since 2011.
Tyson says the dealer support he receieves is second to none and makes it easy for WA Sand to get on with its work.
WA Sand and Haulage has more than 50 employees, while some sub-contractors are also used on a regular basis.
