An automatic nine-speed transmission promising less weight and better economy will be showcased at the Brisbane Truck Show on May 16-20.
The Allison Transmission unit has been internationally revealed at the IAA show in Hannover, Germany, but this will be the first chance for local customers to see the new gearbox.

A model of the new Allison 9-Speed will be on display at the Allison booth (stand 84) at the Brisbane Show along with cutaway models of the Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions.
Allison product engineering vice-president Randy Kirk says the new transmission improves fuel efficiency and emissions.
“Other exciting features include higher engine and GCW ratings, optimised skip shifting, lifetime filter, integral cooler, input retarder, and integrated engine stop-start system with vehicle hold,” Kirk says.
The nine-speed’s projected applications include distribution trucks, rental and lease trucks, school buses, specialty trucks, and defence vehicles.
The new model leverages the durability of the 2000 Series six-speed transmissions and has been designed to use the same vehicle and engine interfaces as its six-speed predecessor.
Show attendees will also find a variety of Allison-equipped vehicles on display from Fuso, Hino, Isuzu, Iveco, UD Trucks, Daimler, Freightliner, Kenworth and Western Star.
