Allison service network expands

Number of authorised service outlets grows in line with rising uptake of fully automatic transmissions

Allison Transmission says sales of its fully automatic transmissions continue to accelerate in Australia’s commercial and defence sectors, and so too is backup for the brand in the form of Allison authorised service outlets.

Gearing up

The past year has seen three key Allison Authorised Distributors ramp up their operations, with Heavy Automatics, Penske Australia and Transdiesel all gearing up to accommodate the greater demand for Allison transmissions.

“While our distribution partners are increasing their service capabilities to support the growing number of Allison-equipped vehicles in Australia, our customers will continue to see value over the lifetime of their vehicles as Allison transmissions are more cost-effective due to lower maintenance,” said Robert Cavagnino, Head of Australia Sales at Allison Transmission.

“We design and manufacture a quality product and work very closely with our customers to be able to articulate what is needed for the harsh Australian environment, aiding resilient vehicles to overcome myriad challenges.”

Expanding footprint

Heavy Automatics opened a new 1500-square-metre service centre in Wacol in Brisbane’s western suburbs last year, the outlet conveniently close to multiple OEM truck manufacturers.

Penske Australia opened a new site in Yatala near Queensland’s Gold Coast, bringing its network of major service centres to 15 throughout the country, while Transdiesel opened a new 5500-square-metre flagship servicing centre at Epping in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, a short distance from the Hume Freeway.

Important market

Australia is a major market for Allison, which is the largest global manufacturer of fully automatic transmissions for commercial and defence vehicles.

The brand says it has seen impressive growth in Australia’s commercial vehicle industry in recent years, particularly in the medium-duty truck segment, where drivers and operators alike are turning to Allison’s fully automatic transmissions for their ease of use, smooth shifting, and seamless power delivery.

“Allison Automatics allow fleets to have drivers with varying levels of experience and with the drivetrain doing the work, there’s less fatigue for the driver and more precise operation ability. This allows drivers to focus on the task at hand,” said Cavagnino.

“Allison’s superior performance encompasses startability, gradeability and steady acceleration, covering duty cycles at higher average speeds.”
