ATA announces TMC program

Delegates at the looming 2015 PACCAR & Dealer TMC set to benefit from a wide range of tech-oriented forums, workshops and information sessions

The Australian Trucking Association has announced the program for the 2015 PACCAR & Dealer Technical and Maintenance Conference, which will be held in Melbourne's Docklands precinct over October 26 to 28.

This year's TMC will include product training workshops:

•    Cummins demonstrating the critical elements needed for heavy vehicle engines to perform well in the tough Australian environment
•    The STEMCO Wheel End Clinic, an interactive session on best practice axle component and wheel end maintenance
•    Eaton's electrical pre-testing of automated transmissions, data transfer link failures and how to solve them
•    Diagnosing and fixing issues with electric safety systems, led by Knorr-Bremse
•    Coupling failure and safety chains, jointly presented by Advantia Transport Consulting and Barlett Equipment
•    Ideal service intervals and how to best service SAF-Holland kingpins, fifth wheels and couplings
•    Reliable brake testing procedures for repeatable results, presented by Nepean Transport
•    DANA Australia's hands-on guide to identifying wear in power dividers and driveshafts
•    Maintenance intervals and techniques to get the most out of Eaton driveline components

ATA CEO Chris Melham said the supplier-led sessions gave trucking workshop and maintenance staff a unique opportunity to get product training directly from the experts.

"In order to keep trucking fleets safe and efficient on the road, maintenance staff need to keep an enormous number of components and systems in top condition," he said.

"Understanding the best way to diagnose and fix an issue can save days of vehicle downtime and improve fleet productivity.

"In these workshops, technical experts from leading industry suppliers will provide training in best-practice assessment and maintenance techniques for their most popular products. It's a valuable opportunity to upskill or refresh your knowledge on how to deal with these components.

"And to recognise the value of this training, participants will receive a certificate of attendance for each workshop they attend, signed by the supplier and TMC."

Full delegate registration is available for $495, and includes all program sessions, the PACCAR Parts Fun Night and the Castrol Vecton Awards Dinner.
