ATA hits the road with politicians
Cabover Cabinet a prime location to discuss transport industry issuesSenator Jim Molan is the first politician to join the Australian Trucking Association 'on the job' and discuss transport issues while being driven in a Volvo prime mover.
The ATA's 'Cabover Cabinet' aims to give our elected representatives an insight into issues facing the trucking industry and how it affects their constituents.
Senator Molan joined ATA chief executive Ben Maguire in the cab to talk about the role trucking and small business plays in the Australian economy, fuel security, the need for increased and improved rest areas, and industry regulation.
"Senator Molan understands the importance of the trucking industry and how integral it is to Australia's economy and way of life," Maguire says.
"The experience gave Senator Molan an insight into the issues we deal with from day to day and the role government can play in improving outcomes."
Senator Molan is a former major general in the Australian army and has been a Liberal senator for New South Wales since 2017.
