Atlas Car and Truck Rental has purchased a further 20 Hino trucks, the deal representing the continuation of a professional relationship that goes back over 20 years.
The Hino 300 Series 616 Autos join a number of other Hino models in the Atlas fleet and come after a number of older models were recently auctioned.
According to the General Manager of Atlas Car and Truck Rental, Jason Murphy, Hino's products have proven both reliable and cost-effective.
"Atlas Car and Truck Rental has been around since 1990 and we've been running Hino trucks on the fleet for many years," he said.
"Reliability is paramount for a rental fleet and with the Hino trucks we've run in the past we've experienced no down-time.
"The additional 20 300 Series 616 Autos fit in really well with our rental fleet. Our customers are often people moving house or running various errands, so the automatic transmission and the ability to drive the truck with a car licence is a perfect fit."
The Hino 300 Series 616 models are powered by a 4.0-litre common-rail direct-injection diesel engine, said to produce 110kW and 420Nm. The model comes standard with stability control and dual airbags, and also has four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS and electronic brake force distribution (EBD).
Mr Murphy said the older Hino 300 Series trucks recently sold by the company met or exceeded all of the firm's expectations.
"We've just auctioned off a number of Hino trucks we purchased in 2006," he said.
"They had 250,000 kilometres on the clock and we were very pleased with the prices we got for them.
"And they were all running perfectly – it was as if they were just run-in."
Atlas Car and Truck Rental has branches in the capitals and regions of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, with new locations in Sydney, the Gold Coast and Brisbane. The network is set to be joined by a branch in Cairns, Far North Queensland, in early 2015.
