Big incentives to hire automotive workers

Victorian Government is offering cash to businesses that hire sacked car manufacturing employees
The HVIA is facilitating opportunities for members to consider employing retrenched automotive workers, available for work now due to the end of car manufacturing.
HVIA’s Greg Forbes says that he is aware of members who are seeking skilled people to fill manufacturing roles in the heavy vehicle sector.
The Victorian Government’s Back to Work Scheme provides employers with up to $7000 for hiring eligible retrenched auto workers in Victoria. An additional amount of up to $4000 is available for providing accredited training to these eligible employees.
"Auto workers have developed a range of skills through working in the automotive supply chain, across a wide range of occupations,” said Forbes.
"These workers are used to working in manufacturing and many have over 10 years of service with their previous employer."
Many skilled workers are available for immediate start including machine operators and assembly workers, technicians and trades workers, sales and administrative staff, and professionals including engineers, accountants and managers.
HVIA Members are invited to contact Greg Forbes with a description of any available positions and the skills required.
“If there is a formal job description available, great, but if not that is OK,” Forbes added.
