Speaking in advance of the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show, which
opens today at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) and runs
until Sunday, Chief Executive Brett Wright was understandably in an up-beat mood: “We look forward to
welcoming visitors from around Australia and across the globe, to the 50-year
anniversary Brisbane Truck Show and hope you have an exciting, successful and
enjoyable stay."
The Brisbane Truck Show is ready to welcome over 35,000
people for a jam-packed four-day event, spread over the centre’s three levels.
The biennial Brisbane Truck Show is organised by HVIA, the
national association representing and advancing the interests of manufacturers
and suppliers of heavy vehicles and their components, equipment and technology.
Mr Wright said the major milestone is a great reflection on
the innovation and resilience of the Australian heavy vehicle industry.
"The show has come a long way from its humble beginnings
when twenty-one truck, trailer and component manufacturers and suppliers came
together at Haulmark Trailers’ premises in Rocklea in 1968," Brett said.
"The 2017 Brisbane Truck Show is the fourth that will be
held at BCEC, and features close to 300 exhibitors displaying the latest
trucks, trailers, components, equipment, accessories and technology."
Mr Wright invited visitors to explore and enjoy new features
and improvements for the 50-year anniversary show.
"Our focus is always on making the event a great experience
for visitors and exhibitors," Mr Wright said. "The improvements we’ve made for
the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show range from online ticketing to the exhibition
layout.
"As part of the celebration, we’ve developed the Heavy
Vehicle Industry Innovation Centre with displays showcasing research and
development success stories, and connecting businesses with support programs
and services.”
The all new Brisbane Truck Show Awards celebrate Australia’s
dynamic heavy vehicle industry by highlighting the latest innovations design,
engineering, and manufacturing achievements.
HVIA’s Industry Career Centre, is a “one-stop shop” for
students and job seekers to talk to the experts about the apprentice system,
government assistance, training delivery and training content.
The popular Apprentice Challenge is now a truly national
event with competitors representing each of the HVIA regions across the breadth
of Australia.
The regional teams work simultaneously, on identical trucks,
supplied by Fuso Australia, to identify and rectify a series of programmed
faults as the clock ticks.
"There’s something for everyone," Mr Wright said, "We hope
you’ll join us at the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show, Australia’s premier transport
event, run by the industry for the industry."
