Broadbent Compressors chooses Foton

A Melbourne-based compressor sales and supply company recently enhanced its business with the purchase of a new Foton 45.110 truck
A Victorian compressor specialist recently augmented its operations with a new light-duty Foton truck.
Broadbent Compressors purchased the Foton 45.110 short-wheelbase truck in June to transport compressor units and parts throughout the Melbourne metropolitan region and beyond.
According to the firm's service manager, Sam Piperno, the truck's Cummins engine was a major drawcard when the company was pondering its options.
"Cummins has a reputation second to none when it comes to diesel truck engines and when you are in the compressor business you understand just how important a strong, reliable and economical engine really is," he said.
"Purchase price was also a key factor – it's something that's important in any business operation – but having a Cummins engine was the major selling point that convinced us to purchase the Foton."
The Foton 45.110 is powered by a 2.8-litre Cummins ISF engine. The four-cylinder, 16-valve turbo-diesel produces a claimed 110kW at 2900rpm and 360Nm between 1500rpm and 2900rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual ZF transmission and the truck has a GVM of 4490kg, meaning it can be driven on a standard car licence.
Broadbent Compressor's Foton has been fitted with a steel tilt tray to facilitate easy loading and unloading of industrial compressors – items that can weigh up to two tonnes for the larger 150kW models.
Mr Piperno says the Foton, which was purchased the Preston Motors Dandenong, has performed faultlessly since its arrival.
"There have been no negatives with the Foton; the driver that uses the truck most of the time likes driving it, it works well in city traffic and it is working very well," he said.

Foton trucks come with a three-year/160,000-kilometre warranty and feature 20,000-kilometre service intervals. For more information visit www.fotontrucks.com.au.
