BTS: MaxiTRANS scoops awards

Trailer specialist MaxiTRANS took out a swag of accolades at the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show
Melbourne-based trailer firm MaxiTRANS has left the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show with an impressive collection of awards, the brand walking away with new fewer than four accolades.
MaxiTRANS, which encompasses names such as Freighter, Hamelex White, Maxi-CUBE, Lusty EMS, AZMEB and Peki, took out the titles of Best Trailer (Freighter T-Liner Mark II with load restraint gates), Best Component, Equipment or Service Innovation (Freighter Hanging Load Restraint Gates), Best Australian Designed and Engineered Product (Freighter T-Liner Mark II curtain system) and Best Australian Manufactured Innovation (Freighter T-Liner Mark II curtain system).
T-Liner Mark II

Introduced last year, Freighter's T-Liner Mark II uses curtain arc technology to reduce the number of buckles from a traditional 22 per side to just six. The buckles themselves have a special ratchet design to enhance ease of use and drastically reduce instances of them coming undone in transit.

The design of Freighter's Hanging Load Restraint Gates makes life far easier for drivers because the bulk of each gate's weight is supported, while the T-Liner Mark II curtain system can be opened and closed with minimal time and effort.
MaxiTRANS General Manager Product and Markets, Kevin Manfield (pictured), said the products delivered impressive safety and productivity benefits.
"The T-Liner Mark II is an evolution of the T-Liner and is the latest in a long line of innovations from Freighter, including two recent spring-assisted load restraint gate releases, easy-glide curtain rollers, a non-slip buckle and a two-piece roof rail," he said.
"Having all of those features on display in Brisbane allowed visitors to see just how much safer and easier a Freighter is to operate."
MaxiTRANS Marketing Communications Manager, Ash Vague, said the company was thrilled with the results of the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show Awards.
"We knew we would have a good chance thanks with the numerous innovations we've introduced recently, but to win four awards is just fantastic," he said.
Maxi-CUBE Classic
MaxiTRANS showcased these innovations and a number of new products at its stand at the Brisbane Truck Show.
Grabbing the lion's share of the limelight was the next generation of its Maxi-CUBE 'Classic' refrigerated trailer. MaxiTRANS says the updated model boasts a 5.5 per cent improvement in thermal efficiency, a lower tare weight and a number of other improvements, such as an optional proximity sensor/LED system that allows drivers to reverse into a loading bay with greater safety.
Available for order shortly, the first examples of the new Classic are expected to be delivered in October.
"When combined, the Classic sets a new benchmark for refrigerated vans," said Manfield.
Peki refrigerated truck bodies
Also pushing boundaries in refrigerated transport at the show was Peki's new truck body models. Available in Urban and Distribution models, in either dry freight or reefer formats, MaxiTRANS says the new models complete a vital part of the MaxiTRANS road freight picture.
"The new Peki range completes the MaxiTRANS range with a final mile solution," said Manfield.
"Peki truck bodies will give our customers the opportunity to source equipment to move product from the port, to distribution centres, to retail store and then to the end consumer, all from a trusted supplier in MaxiTRANS."
With bodies ranging in size from two pallets to 14 pallets, the new Peki range is available for order now with units to be delivered towards the end of this year.
Show of force
In addition to the lauded Freighter T-Liner Mark II, also turning heads at the MaxiTRANS stand was a Hamelex White PBS Dog Tipper with 'Landslide' liner.
The trailer features a remodelled chassis that achieves a 13 per cent reduction in tare weight, says MaxiTRANS, while the Landslide tipper liner allows operators to reduce the tip angle by up to 30 per cent. This affords greater safety by lowering the trailer's centre of gravity, while it also means the trailer is less likely to hit low objects.
Other trailers on show at the MaxiTRANS stand in Brisbane included an AZMEB High Volume Side Tipper and a Freighter drop-deck trailer, making for an impressive show of force and unity for the broader scope of MaxiTRANS brands at the show.
