The Burrumbuttock Hay Run is run by Brendan (Bumpa) Farrell and has been going since 2014. The 2020 Hay Run will be the 15th and will hopefully eclipse the biggest run which was in 2016.
In 2016, 256 trucks made the trek from Burrumbuttock to Ilfracombe in Queensland.
All hay is donated from generous farmers all over Australia. The money fund-raised is held in a Rotary Club bank account and is used to fuel the trucks that transport the donated hay.

Nobody in the Burrumbuttock Hay Run group is paid a wage, all are volunteers. This includes all the truck drivers who also donate the use of their trucks and machinery to load and unload the hay.
This year’s Hay Run will be on the Australia Day long weekend (how appropriate) and there’s still time to get involved. You can sponsor a truck and have your corporate, organisation or school banner on the truck for the duration of the Run. Truck sponsorship is $2000 which covers the cost of the fuel for the Run.
Or you can still register for the Run if you have a truck and/or trailer(s).
