Caltex Clean Tec hits NSW

A filtration upgrade at Caltex's Newcastle terminal has its full TecDiesel Advantage range of fuels roll out in New South Wales
Caltex Australia has announced that for the first time it can supply commercial customers in New South Wales with its full range of TecDiesel Advantage fuels, thanks to a recent filtration system upgrade at its Newcastle terminal.
Caltex says the new system removes "significantly more microscopic abrasive contamination" than that found in conventional diesel.
Available to commercial customers who source their fuel direct from Caltex, TecDiesel Advantage comprises three diesel fuels, a low-viscosity engine oil and on-site engineering consultancy so clients can better manage their fuel reserves and supply.
Caltex says its Clean Tec is a cleaner diesel while Active Tec is a high-performance diesel with a number of beneficial additives. Rounding out the trio is Power Tec – a diesel that combines the benefits of both.
While Active Tec is available through a number of Caltex's terminals around the country, the new filtration system at Newcastle has seen Clean Tec and Power Tec become available in New South Wales for the first time. Newcastle is now one of three terminals in Australia where all three premium fuels are available, the other two being Gladstone and Mackay in Queensland.
While the fuels aren't available through retail service stations, the development is sure to be of particular interest to major mining operations in the Hunter Valley and elsewhere in the state, along with other major clients who manage their own on-site fuel supplies.
Caltex's General Manager for Marketing, Bruce Rosengarten, says the new products target common maintenance costs associated with commercial diesel fleets, while boosting power output and minimising fuel consumption.
"Caltex has responded to these challenges by introducing Caltex TecDiesel Advantage, a holistic and cost-effective package that includes three new advanced diesel products along with fuel filtering processes, site-specific engineering solutions and a fuel-saving low-viscosity engine oil," he said.
"Independent tests designed to replicate Australian conditions demonstrated that the TecDiesel Advantage program delivers increased power output and potential fuel economy savings through improvements to injector cleanliness."
