Cat unveils CT630S/SC offer

Cat Trucks has come up with a very tempting offer for prospective buyers of its new B-double specialists, the CT630S and CT630SC

The first 50 buyers of Cat's new CT630S and CT630SC prime movers will have some extra reasons to smile when they take delivery of their rig: free extended service coverage and an introductory package of value-added extras.

The offer sees free service coverage extend for five years or one million kilometres, with no limit on fuel burn incurred during that period.

According to the Business and Brand Development Manager for Cat Trucks, Glen Sharman, the offer underlines the manufacturer's faith in its product.

"We are incredibly confident of the strength and suitability of these important new models," he said.

"It’s only right that we should share that confidence with our customers by offering these important incentives."

The bonuses continue with an introductory package of value-added accessories, comprising an Oricom UHF radio, Clarion 7-inch touch-screen multimedia kit, and a trim kit, the latter including stainless-steel headlight surrounds, stainless-steel side strips on the bonnet, and a stainless-steel bug deflector.

The offer applies to the CT630S (both day cab and extended cab) and the CT630SC 'Superior Cab', the latter also now benefitting from a sliding Engel fridge under its bunk and a TEAC 18.5-inch TV/DVD entertainment system, all included at no extra cost.

The CT630S/SC was the result of a collaboration between US truck manufacturing behemoth Navistar and the engineering resources of Cat Trucks in Australia, the end result being a tailor-made truck for 26-metre, 34-pallet B-double applications.

Cat says the cab has been raised 50mm and brought forward 250mm which, together with the shortened bonnet, delivers enhanced manoeuvrability, better vision for the driver, and improved thermal efficiency. The more rounded lines, meanwhile, are said to aid the truck's aerodynamics and therefore its fuel economy.

With a GCM rating of 90 tonnes, the CT630S/SC is powered by Cat's C15 engine – a 15.2-litre unit producing claimed outputs of 550hp (410kW) and 2508Nm.

Cat says this is the only engine in the heavy-duty truck market in Australia to meet ADR 80/03 emission regulations without an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) or SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. Instead, the unit relies on dual diesel particulate filters. These are positioned horizontally between its chassis rails, leaving external chassis space free to accommodate items such as long-range fuel tanks or, for tippers, hydraulic oil tanks.

“A huge amount of engineering thought and effort has gone into the development of these new models to ensure their suitability for the unique demands of the Australian market, and specifically the requirements of B-double operators,” said Sharman.

“The way we see it at Cat Trucks, this special offer marks the arrival of a couple of very special models.”
