The CT630SC takes the same basic package as the CT630S, with its shortened bumper-to-back-of-cab (BBC) measurement for enhanced manoeuvrability, and adds a luxurious sleeper compartment tailor made for linehaul work.
The Superior Cab comes with a 711mm-wide innerspring mattress, with the compartment itself boasting internal measurements of 2250mm wide and a full 1975mm of standing room. Cat says it represents a significant step up in terms of comfort and space over the brand's factory-fitted sleeper cab for shorthaul and regional work.
According to the Managing Director of Navistar Auspac, Kevin Dennis, the new model will only broaden the appeal of Cat's products in the Australian marketplace.
"The CT630SC is the obvious evolution of the CT630S," he said.
"B-doubles dominate the linehaul freight industry and the need for a roomy, modern sleeper design that provides the driver with high levels of comfort and convenience yet maintains the ability to fit diverse trailer configurations within the 26-metre, 34-pallet B-double envelope is more important than ever.
"Consequently, it was always part of our product planning that the SC would quickly follow the CT630S in the Cat Trucks model range."
The SC sleeper is designed and built here in Australia to Cat Trucks' guidelines, and also includes large toolbox lockers on each side, a spacious storage compartment under the bunk (with room for an optional fridge), and a scalloped rear wall to optimise trailer clearance.
"There’s much more to the CT630SC than the brief details mentioned here and it won’t be long before everyone will see the results of almost two years of careful planning and development work," said Dennis.
Cat Trucks says the CT630SC is available to order now with short lead times.
