Formerly Navistar Auspac's Business and Brand Development Manager, Glen Sharman was recently appointed to the role of Director, Sales, Marketing and Business Development at the Melbourne-based company, effective immediately.
According to Navistar's Senior Vice President and General Manager, Global Operations, Tom Clevinger, the appointment will only enhance the business as it continues to build a foundation for further growth in Australia and New Zealand.
"Glen has been with Navistar since the launch of the Cat Trucks brand in 2010 and is the ideal appointment for this role," he said.
"Glen is highly regarded throughout the Navistar and Caterpillar dealer network for his passion and strategic thinking, and we are extremely fortunate to have an executive with Glen’s skills and commitment to drive the business forward in a professional and dedicated manner."
Mr Sharman says his new role represents a combination of the pre-existing role of General Manager, Sales and Marketing, and a role that assumes responsibility for both Dealer Operations and Sales Administration.
"We have effectively restructured a more streamlined business for local operations," he says.
The role will see Navistar Auspac's marketing, sales, national fleet and administration staff reporting to Mr Sharman, who will also continue with his work in business development.
"It's a pretty big role and I am keen to drive the business forward, as we have a great deal to look forward to in the coming year," he says.
In related news, and following the departure of former Navistar Auspac Managing Director Kevin Dennis, Mr Sharman says the vacant role will soon be filled in the short term by an MD from the USA.
"Dave Allen will serve in an interim role as Managing Director for Navistar Auspac," he says.
"Dave has been with Navistar for more than 40 years, and is currently Vice President, Global Parts Sales, Service and Operations. Dave has valuable experience in all facets of the business, including a solid understanding of the Australian footprint, and actively visits Australia for aftersales business."
