Changes at VW commercial vehicles

There's been some executive shuffling at VW Commercial Vehicles, with Dr Eckhard Scholz appointed Chairman of the Board of Management

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Europe recently announced that Dr Eckhard Scholz (pictured) has been appointed as its Chairman of the Board of Management, the 50-year-old stepping up from his previous role as Speaker for the Brand Board of Management for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

The change will be effective from July 1, 2014, and will also see Joachim Rothenpieler assume a position on the board for Technical Development.

Mr Scholz joined Volkswagen Group in 1991 and has held a number of management positions in Technical Development in Wolfsburg from 1996 to 2007. He was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors at Skoda in 2007 and has served as Speaker of the Brand Board of Management and board member for Technical Development since September 2012.

Mr Rothenpieler joined Volkswagen Group in 1986 and has held a number of senior management roles in vehicle and powertrain development with Skoda, Bentley and VW passenger cars since 1994. He was appointed board of management spokesman and managing director for engineering at Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH in 2010.
