Trailer and tanker manufacturer and transport equipment specialist CIMC Vehicle Australia is increasing its footprint in this country, the firm recently announcing its acquisition of Western Australia’s General Transport Equipment (GTE).
Since launching in Australia in 2005, CIMC Vehicle Australia – the local arm of the China International Marine Containers (CIMC) Group – has slowly but steadily expanded its operations, acquiring road tanker specialist Marshall Lethlean in 2007 and now GTE.
This latest acquisition will allow CIMC Vehicle Australia to offer equipment such low loaders, wideners, extendible drop decks and various specialised trailers, as well as end/side tippers in either aluminium or steel, along with myriad other trailer/tanker models.
GTE’s portfolio spans a broad spectrum of industry niches, with products for medium to heavy-duty transport across the rural, chemical tanker, general freight and mining sectors.
CIMC Vehicle Australia’s Managing Director, Hector Ojeay, said he was thrilled to be bringing GTE under the CIMC umbrella.
“The entire management team and all personnel are very excited about this new venture and the great opportunity for GTE to now be part of the largest trailer manufacturer in the world,” he said.
The move also comes just after CIMC Vehicle Australia announced it has gained ISO 9001 certification (click here for that story).
