British LCV website BusinessVans.co.uk has named Citroen's Berlingo 1.6HDi as its 'Van of the Year' and 'Best Small Trades Van', with the accolades handed down at the publication's 2015 Business Van of the Year Awards, held recently in London.
The Berlingo was awarded top honours for its blend of capability, low running costs, and reliability.
"In addition to the extra ruggedness that car-derived vans didn’t have, the Berlingo also offered a combination of cheap front-end price, low running costs and low CO2 emissions figures, along with excellent residual values as second owners got to know that a Berlingo was unlikely to let them down, however old it was," wrote the publication.
According to Business Vans Editorial Director, Ralph Morton, the Berlingo is a superb fit for many SME (small- and medium-sized enterprise) applications.
"The Berlingo is a great all-rounder supported by a network that understands the requirements of small business van operators," he said.
In Australia, the short-wheelbase Citroen Berlingo is priced from $19,990 plus on-roads, while until March 31, 2015, the long-wheelbase Berlingo is priced from $25,990 drive away and comes with a five-year/200,000km factory warranty.
Other individual class victories in the British website's awards included Volkswagen's Transporter Kombi (Best Crew Van), Volkswagen's Amarok (Best Utility Pickup and Best Double Cab), Citroen's Relay (Best Heavy Panel Van) and Vauxhall's Vivaro (Best Large Trades Van).
