Colourful Eagles swoop on Blacktown

Blacktown City Council has taken delivery of seven Dennis Eagles refuse trucks painted in eye-catching colours in support of charities

The seven trucks, which will commence service of the local government area immediately, feature the striking paint schemes in alignment with several charities including Australian Red Cross, Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT, Mission Australia, NSW Meals on Wheels, RUOK, and the Better Foundation.

Kevin Copelin, fleet sales manager, Penske Australia said the new trucks take Blacktown City Council’s total fleet of Dennis Eagles to 18.

“Penske Australia’s fleet team and our local Sydney dealership worked closely with Blacktown City Council to deliver these units precisely specified to the requirements of the council,” Mr Copelin said.

“The rainbow fleet is a bright, positive, and unique way of communicating each individual charity’s message to the residents," said Mayor Bleasdale.

“Clearly you can see why Dennis Eagle’s Elite 2 chassis gets a five-star direct vision standard (DVS) rating, as recognised by Transport for London, for its offering of a full panoramic unencumbered view ensuring the best visibility and protection of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists.

“In addition to innovative safety features, the trucks are powered by the well-proven Cummins and Allison Transmission drivetrain, and fully supported by Penske’s dealership.

“With 11 units already in service for Blacktown City Council, these seven units take Blacktown’s fleet to 18 and we’re confident that this fleet will continue to grow.”

The Dennis Eagle trucks feature modern ergonomic interiors with comfort attributes including fully adjustable ISRI 6860 seats, steering columns to accommodate all drivers, fridges, storage space, and more, all designed to keep operators performing at their optimum in the demanding residential refuse collection application.

Mayor of Blacktown City, Tony Bleasdale OAM, said the waste trucks doubled as an important communication channel with local residents.

“Blacktown City Council’s charity awareness campaign has been a key feature on all our new waste trucks from Penske, right from the delivery of our first Dennis Eagle refuse collection vehicle in 2017,” said Mr Bleasdale.

“The rainbow fleet is a bright, positive, and unique way of communicating each individual charity’s message to the residents and visitors of Blacktown City.

“Penske’s trucks and bodies have proven extremely reliable, and our drivers are very happy with the Dennis Eagle – Superior Pak combination.

“We look forward to receiving a further seven new Dennis Eagle Euro 6 – Superior Pak combinations in early 2021.”
