ComVec 2018 returns to Melbourne

Tesla co-founder to headline the 2018 line-up of guest speakers
Following the success of HVIA’s first national event in the Southern Region in July 2016, Australia’s heavy vehicle engineering conference, ComVec will return to Melbourne on April 12-13 at the Melbourne Park Function Centre.
The two-day program provides a collaborative knowledge sharing forum for attendees including gaining insights from technical and policy experts.
In the heart of the Melbourne and Olympic Parks complex, alongside the iconic Rod Laver Arena, HVIA says the Melbourne Park Function Centre is the perfect venue for ComVec delegates to get the most out of your experience with natural light, fresh air and room to move.
ComVec 2018 will feature Tesla co-founder Ian Wright (pictured) as the conference explores the heavy vehicle industry’s rapidly unfolding innovation frontier.
When Tesla began, Ian Wright was the Engineer at its heart. In 2005 he went on to found Wrightspeed, building turbine powered electric drivetrains for the commercial vehicle industry and his technology is now taking hold all over the world.
At ComVec Ian will discuss his uncompromising journey to develop more efficient means to power heavy vehicles, his current projects, its applications and the challenges to make it work.
The two-day conference program tackles the process of enabling innovation to achieve safety and productivity benefits for industry, by working with Government and its policy development, regulatory and enforcement agencies.
The program also explores the development of new technologies including outlining the journey to bring them to market and the challenges to integrate them.
Meanwhile, truck OEM’s will share essential insights for engineers & body builders with new truck model and chassis design updates. Trucks will be on display to demonstrate body mounting options and methods for handling unique applications, directly from the engineers who design them.
The two-day conference brings together all sectors of the industry including trailer manufacturers, body builders, specialised vehicle manufacturers, vehicle modifiers, designers, engineers and operators involved in specifying or purchasing heavy vehicles.
