Container handling equipment at ITTES

New technology will be on show from world-renowned brands at next year's biggest truck show

With an annual growth rate of 5.1 per cent, container traffic in Australia is bound to double until 2033, according to research by the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE).

Responding to that important industry trend and based in the nations freight capital, the 2016 Melbourne Truck Show is set to have a special focus on the latest in container handling technology.

Well-known brands like Swinglift, Steelbro and Combilift are organised and ready to assist in future-proofing Australian businesses, according to ITTES organisers.

Also present will be hooklift, low loader, tilt-tray and skel manufacturers that all contribute to the growing freight task of moving containers. Krueger Transport Equipment, which has been an innovator in skel development and now PBS designs, will have a large array of equipment on show.

With so many prominent names already confirmed, the Show is well on track to become a key technology hub for one of the fastest growing segments of the transport market, organisers said.

Side-lifter specialists Swinglift and Steelbro have already announced they will unveil the latest in new technology in Melbourne, while straddle carrier expert Combilift is planning to wow audiences with life demonstrations on site.

SHOW & SHINE
And don't forget the custom truck Show & Shine which is carrying the biggest prize money ever offered with $30,000 up for grabs.

Building on the success of the 2014 event, ITTES Show Director, Simon Coburn, anticipates next year’s competition to set a new record for the custom truck scene – especially since touching base with the community at the recent Castlemaine Truck Show.

“The Castlemaine event was again testament to the amazing work and effort that Australian transport operators invest into creating spectacular custom trucks,” he said. “What we want to do next year is give them an even larger forum to celebrate their work and get the attention they deserve.”

Coburn said he is working with sponsors to make next year’s Show & Shine the richest event of its type in ITTES history, offering a massive prize pool of over $30,000.

“We want to make the Show & Shine an integral part of the Melbourne Truck Show and award the customising community for the incredible work they’re doing in this unique field. That also means we’re opening up the event to sponsors, which allows us to create a prize pool that has been unheard of before.”
