Daimler India expands Fuso exports

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has started producing left-hand-drive Fuso models for a variety of export markets
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has kicked itself up another gear, with the company recently announcing that its manufacturing plant near Chennai has begun rolling out left-hand-drive Fuso models bound for Africa.
DICV's sprawling Oragadam factory, which is spread over 400 acres, is now producing Fuso FJ models for countries including Egypt, Ethiopia and Nigeria, with plans to expand those target countries to include nations in the Middle East and Latin America.
DICV also says it will soon add to its Fuso portfolio, kick-starting production of medium-duty left-hand-drive models before the end of this year.
In a company press release DICV said the move was an important step in the firm's on-going consolidation.
"With this, Daimler Trucks Asia strengthens its portfolio of new Fuso trucks for the non-Asian markets as well, adding thrust to its export strategy," the statement reads.
Daimler AG's Indian subsidiary already exports right-hand-drive Fuso trucks to a number of countries including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, among others.
