DB Schenker expands in Vic

New $10 million facility in Melbourne's western suburbs bolsters firm's Australian footprint

Transport and logistics specialist DB Schenker recently opened a new storage facility in Truganina, in Melbourne's western suburbs.

DB Schenker says the $10 million site provides custom-made storage for an existing industrial customer, with the tailored racking providing space and protection for items up to four metres long to a height of up to nine metres.

Officially opened by Victoria's Minster for Industry, Lily D'Ambrosio, the CEO of Schenker Australia, Ron Koehler, said the warehouse underlined the firm's commitment to innovation.

"This is our fourth facility in Victoria which is enhancing our contract logistics position in the state and supporting our ongoing growth," he said.

"Based in the rapidly expanding industrial area, our design and build facility was less constrained than in other traditional industrial areas, and we were able to achieve a design that optimised the storage density and handling efficiency of our customers.

"The net benefit of this facility is a lower overall cost for our customers to deliver their products to the Australian market."
