DD Series 60 reborn

Penske Power Systems has announced a limited run of Detroit Series 60 Legacy 14-litre engines is now available in Australia

Penske Power Systems, the importer and distributor for Detroit Diesel in Australia and New Zealand, has announced that it has secured a limited number of the engine manufacturer's 14-litre Series 60 Legacy engines.

The 575hp six-cylinder diesel can now be purchased separately through Penske Power Systems outlets, and comes backed by a two-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Produced in Detroit Diesel's remanufacturing facility in Utah, Penske says it worked hard with the manufacturer to secure the engine for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Kevin Dennis, Director On-Highway at Penske Power Systems, said there will be strong local demand for the engine, which has been powering trucks here since its introduction over 30 years ago.

"More than ever we deliver an extensive range of technologies to our customers, from the DD15 engine on the one hand, to the legendary Series 60 on the other," he said.

"So when our customers asked for the Series 60 Legacy to be re-introduced as part of our product mix we worked hard to make it happen."
