Detroit invests in local techs

Detroit Diesel says it's making a major investment in its Australian support and service capabilities for the DD15 engine platform, with record numbers of dealer technicians undertaking factory-accredited training modules to further hone their knowledge.

Detroit says that some 550 technicians will have completed the extra training by year's end, with techs tackling modules including DDEC VI Diagnostic, DD15 Major Repair and DD15 Diagnostic.

According to the Director of Penske Power Systems On-Highway Business, Kevin Dennis, the significant investment in the training will pay off by achieving the highest possible level of technical support, resulting in increased uptime for customers.

"An investment of close to $600,000 towards complementary training not only confirms this, but importantly ensures that we are growing the most competent dealer and support network in the country for the DD15 engine," he said.

The training boost is also benefitting Detroit's local distributor, Penske Power Systems, with close to 200 in-house technicians completing Detroit modules adapted from Daimler Trucks North America for the DD15 engine.
