A year on from its Brisbane truck show debut, Chinese brand DFAC is taking on popular established light truck brands including Isuzu and Hino with a sub-$60K launch offer on its new ready-to-work tradie model.
Priced at $59,990 drive-away, the 4.5-tonne Captain 45 WorkReady model comes with an Australian assembled aluminum tray from MW Alloy trays, along with ladder racks and a wash station.

Part of China’s second-biggest truck manufacturer and distributed in Australia by the KRW Motor Group (which is also a distributor for select Foton and Shacman models), the new DFAC WorkReady model is available across multiple dealerships around the country.
DFAC says the car-licence Captain 45 is engineered for Australian conditions, and features a 121kW/400Nm Cummins 2.5-litre Euro 6 turbo-diesel engine, along with Dana axles and a six-speed Eaton Fast AMT transmission.

Also part of the package is a 120L fuel tank, air brakes and manual park brake, 1+2 seating, and powered windows.
As far as load hauling goes, the new truck gets a 4.5m x 2m tray with a load capacity of 2000kg; three crossbeams for transportation of longer materials including ladders; a rear cabin protection screen; a wash station, dropdown sides and a 3500kg towing capacity.

The 5932mm long Captain 45 also gets a few active safety features like lane departure assistance, advanced emergency braking, forward collision warning, and hill start assist. Also fitted to the Australian compliant model is a 13-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The WorkReady Captain 45 has a maximum speed of 110km/h and is also available with a six tonne GVM.

It's backed by a seven-year 250,000km warranty, 24/7 NTI roadside assistance and a network of 24 DFAC Trucks Australia service centres across the country.
“Light duty 4.5 tonne trucks are being seen more and more on worksites as tradespeople look to maximise their business operations after growing out of their dual cab ute," said KRW Motor Group CEO, Neil Wang.
“With a wheelbase of 3300mm, the Captain 45 is a versatile workhorse that is sure to be welcomed on small landscape upgrades, through to major infrastructure projects and everything in between."
The introductory offer of $59,995 is available until September 30, 2026.
