Logistics solutions expert, DHL, has officially launched its Electric Vehicle (EV) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Australia, marking a significant expansion of its global EV logistics network and reinforcing its support for the country’s growing electric vehicle and battery energy storage market.
The move sees DHL consolidate and expand its EV-related expertise across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with all three cities now hosting battery-ready, multi-customer warehouses that meet stringent local and international safety standards for storing lithium-ion batteries and other dangerous goods.
The CoEs are designed to provide end-to-end, EV-compliant logistics solutions for the Australian auto-mobility aftermarket, including certified transportation for replacement EV batteries and parts, seamless import/export logistics, and warehousing solutions tailored to the evolving electrification ecosystem.
The expanded network brings together the expertise of multiple DHL business units — including DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express —offering multimodal transport options to optimise lead times and costs for clients.

DHL Supply Chain ANZ CEO, Steve Thompsett, said the expansion signals DHL’s long-term commitment to building Australia’s electric vehicle infrastructure.
“We’re so pleased to expand our EV COE network to Australia and support the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem locally. We announced in November that upgraded warehouses in Sydney and Melbourne would house batteries, and now we welcome the addition of Brisbane.”
Fathi Tlatli, Global Auto-Mobility Sector President at DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation, said the company aims to pioneer the development of the electric vehicle market in Australia.
“With the support of our global network, we are enabling a one-stop shop for EV logistics, improving the efficiency of aftersales services for electric vehicle players and beyond in the country.”
The announcement aligns with DHL Group’s Strategy 2030 and its New Energy Growth Initiative, which places strong emphasis on supporting the shift to sustainable transportation and circular supply chains. DHL says it will work with local partners to explore battery end-of-life solutions, aiming to close the loop in Australia’s auto-mobility sector.
