MAN Automotive Imports will be fronting this year’s International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show with a wide range of models, with examples including its top-of-the-range TGX 26.540BLS 6x4 prime mover, a TGS 35.440BL 8x4 fitted out for road construction, a TGS 26.480BLS 6x4 prime mover, a TGM 18.340BB 4x4 day cab in ground spreader spec, a TGS 26.540 6x4 L cab and a TGS 18.360BLS 4x2 prime mover.
Grabbing the lion’s share of the limelight will be the TGX 26.540BLS 6x4 prime mover with XLX cab. Powered by a four-valve, six-cylinder, in-line turbo-diesel good for a claimed 540hp (397kW) and 2500Nm, MAN says it’s one of the most technologically advanced trucks on the market. The ITTES example will be showcasing an ‘Evolution’ pack of upgrades along with safety features including ABS, ASR (traction control), ESP (electronic stability program), EBS (electronic brakeforce system), a crumple zone, Active Cruise Control and Lane Guard (a lane departure warning system).
All post-October-build MAN 4x2 and 6x4 prime movers now come with ASR and ESP as standard.
According to Man General Manager – Marketing, Cris Gillespie, the model is a heavy-duty hauler par excellence.
“With its combination of high power, outstanding ride characteristics and a low tare weight, the TGX really is the ideal truck for on-highway work,” he said.
Gillespie says the 4x4 TGM 18.340BB, fitted out for Victorian firm Gibson’s Groundspread, will also draw plenty of interest.
“With their low tare weight and high payload, excellent driver comfort and all-wheel-drive ability, the TGM 4x4 model is the ideal truck for the specialised ground spreading business,” he said.
