Don Watson Transport joins TruckSafe

The Australian Trucking Association's TruckSafe accreditation program recently welcomed Don Watson Transport to its ranks
Don Watson Transport is the latest road transport company to sign up to the Australian Trucking Association's TruckSafe safety accreditation scheme.
Based in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, Don Watson Transport was founded in 1948. The company specialises in refrigerated logistics and currently operates a fleet of over 80 line-haul prime movers, with depots in Melbourne, Wodonga, Sydney and Brisbane and cold stores in Wodonga and Sydney.
The company is led by Managing Director Noelene Watson, who is also currently serving as the ATA's Chair.
According to the company's Administration Manager, Adam Mayhew – who looks after compliance for the firm – joining the TruckSafe program has further complemented its existing practices and procedures.
"Joining TruckSafe helped us review and streamline everything," he said.
"We found that while we had most of the processes in place already, there were a number of different manuals and procedures in place. We've now consolidated these into one consistent manual across all of our operations.
"Our maintenance tracking system has also improved under TruckSafe. We already did the work, but now we have the records to back that up, and the information flows right across the business.
"Having TruckSafe accreditation is a great way to show our customers and community the high priority Don Watson Transport puts on safety in all aspects of our business."
The Chairman of TruckSafe, Stephen Marley, said its members were known as some of the safest operators in the country.
"Businesses that join TruckSafe go above and beyond the requirements of the law to put safety first in their business activities," said.
"I’d like to congratulate Don Watson Transport and its Managing Director, Noelene Watson, for taking these steps to continue improving their business practices.
"It shows the importance that Noelene places on improving safety and professionalism in the trucking industry, both in her business and as Chair of the ATA."
