Are these two concept trucks shining a light on road transport's future? The men behind the design exercises – Belorusian designer Artem Smirnov and Ukrainian CAD Sculptor/Digital 3D Modeller Vladimir Panchenko – certainly think so, having obviously invested significant time and effort into the end result.
Why the pair opted for Audi badging isn't known, but it's not so outlandish given the German marque falls under the Volkswagen umbrella, which also includes major European truck manufacturers MAN and Scania.
Emissions are effectively nil thanks to electric power (with battery packs recharged via clean, renewable sources) and the trucks' flanks, with their flowing lines and wheel-hugging guards, have an obvious focus on minimising drag.
Of course a front end shaped like a brick isn't helping things in this respect, but here the designers are merely following Europe's mandatory cab-over design regs.
The second truck's open-top cab certainly piqued our interest. The fighter-pilot-style helmet and suit looks the business, but we can't imagine it would be much fun copping a mid-winter storm out in the open. Then again, what are design concepts for if not to let us dream?
Don't bother asking about these trucks at any Audi dealership anytime soon, but if you'd like to find out more check out the designers' websites at www.behance.net/smartyom and https://www.behance.net/kodg, and take a look at their promo clip below…
