Underground drilling specialist, the Redcliffe-based HTD Australia, has added to its Isuzu fleet with the recent purchase of an 8x4 FYH 2000.
The FYH 2000 has been fitted with a vacuum excavation body used to analyse the location of the underground utilities/services, accomplished through water pressure produced by a high powered vacuum machine. The vacuum excavation body was built by Big Rig Industries in Eagle Farm (Qld), and is over 7.4 metres long.
“The Isuzu FYH 2000 with its 30,000 kg GVM rating meets our needs for a truck big enough not only for the vacuum body, but also to accommodate the water mass the body holds when on the job,” said HTD Director Zac Chisolm.
HTD has five other Isuzu trucks in his fleet: a Giga CXY 455; FVZ 1400 Long and FVR 900 with tray bodies; a FSR 850 Long with a vacuum excavation unit; and an NQR 450 with a service body, all used to transport and service heavy underground drilling machinery.
Horizontal underground drilling is a multi-million dollar industry in Australia, governed by stringent safety and environmental regulations. The system is employed to install underground pipes, conduits and cables with minimal impact on the surrounding area, and is commonly used when trenching or excavating is not practical or would be disruptive.
HTD specialises in horizontal drilling solutions for local, private and government based companies.
