At this edition of the Tokyo Motor Show, the major truck manufacturers had their sights firmly set on electric power.
As we have already reported, the big attention was on Fuso’s nearly-production-ready Vision One and the launch of the company’s sub-brand, eFuso. This was along with the announcement that the fully-electric Canter has been launched into several fleets in the US and Japan. We actually got to drive the electric Canter and we'll bring you a full review shortly.
But many other manufacturers had their focus on electric trucks and buses as well. Hino showed off it Poncho EV electric bus as well as the Dutro Hybrid. And Volkswagen got in the act with its electric take on the old Type 2 Kombi.
Isuzu had a whacky-looking honeycomb-themed bus which was also electric. But whichever way you looked at the offerings at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, you can be sure that we will be seeing a lot more electric-powered trucks and buses in the not-too-distant future.
