Fox watch auctioned
A rare Fox Legacy Watch has been auctioned, with proceeds for the tribute to the trucking magnate going to a good causeA wristwatch that celebrates Australian trucking icon Lindsay Fox sold at auction over the weekend, with the ‘Fox Legacy Watch’ being just one of three examples.
Created to celebrate Fox’s achievements and generosity, the watch was hand crafted in Australia by Dom Italiano of Grip Auto timepieces.
Featuring a titanium case and a Damascus steel ring made from part of the engine from Fox’s first delivery truck, a 1957 Ford F500, the watch also features the famous phrase ‘You are passing another Fox’ on its back cover.
The other two examples of the watch are owned by Lindsay and his son, Peter.
The watch was shown at the annual Wristwatch Check event held at the Fox Classic Car Museum in Melbourne on Saturday, March 15, and was auctioned online with no reserve via watchcollecting.com.
Five bids were made on the timepiece, with the winning bid secured for $3451. The sale proceeds will now be donated to Australian mental health and wellbeing support organisation, Beyond Blue.
“The Fox Legacy Watch is more than a unique timepiece,” said Lee Hallett, Head of Asia-Pacific for the Collecting Group, which runs watchcollecting.com. “It represents resilience, generosity, and Australia as a land of great opportunities.”
In addition to the watch, the winning bidder also received a Certificate of Authenticity from the Fox family, an autographed and framed photo of Formula One driver Lando Norris, and a custom hand-drawn artwork of their favourite timepiece from artist Jeesoo Kim.
