After arriving from Daimler Trucks North America eight weeks ago to assume the role of General Manager of Freightliner Australia, Kristi Walker (pictured) has left the position and returned to America.
Walker had come to Australia from the role of Manager of Sales Operations at DTNA, having previously served a variety of roles within the Daimler family over the past 11 years. She now returns to Daimler Trucks North America, where she will take on a new – yet to be announced – role.
David McCarthy, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, for Daimler Truck & Bus Australia, said Mrs Walker and her husband, Ian, had returned to the US for family reasons.
“There’s no conspiracy theory, it was simply for some personal reasons for which she decided to go back,” he said.
“She’ll be returning to Daimler Trucks North America.”
Kristi Walker arrived from the US on April 2 and went straight into Freightliner’s 25th Anniversary celebrations in Melbourne, followed by the 2014 International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show.
No stranger to operations in this part of the world, she had also previously held the position of DTNA’s Australia/Pacific market manager.
Her appointment to the role of General Manager for Freightliner Australia came as part of a major management reshuffle at Daimler Truck & Bus Australia/Pacific. A part of Daimler AG's global restructuring programe, the change saw the organisation's former Managing Director, Kolja Rebstock, reassigned to a post in Europe, with Daimler's Executive Vice President of Aftersales China, Daniel Whitehead, stepping into the role.
According to McCarthy, a replacement for the role of General Manager at Freightliner Australia is yet to be named.
