Freightliner concept truck at ITTES

Freightliner's Revolution Innovation Truck is set to turn heads at Melbourne's 2014 International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show
Fresh from the Mid America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, Freightliner’s stunning new concept model, the Revolution Innovation Truck, will make its Australian debut at the 2014 International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show, due to be held at Melbourne’s Royal Showgrounds from April 3-6.
Showcasing the latest in Freightliner technology, the model is heading our way to help mark Freightliner’s 25th year in Australia, and it’s sure to get plenty of attention when the ITTES opens its doors.
The concept machine builds on the premise set by Freightliner’s first Innovation Truck of 2009, and is said to blend the functionality of a day cab with the added flexibility of a sleeper.
Besides the obvious effort that’s gone into the concept machine’s advanced aerodynamics, the Revolution Innovation Truck features a jumpseat that converts into a sleeper, a large skylight, LED interior lighting, a conceptual Truck Operating System (which combines internet connectivity with entertainment options, an advanced navigation system, vehicle diagnostics and more), in-rail fuel tanks, keyless entry, abundant storage space and more.
Also of note is the Detroit Long Haul Tandem rear axle set-up, which sees the truck automatically switch between 6x4 and 6x2 formats to maximise fuel economy as conditions and available traction levels allow.
According to Freightliner Australia Senior Manager Rod West, the concept truck offers an insight into what lies ahead.
“We are extremely excited to bring the future of trucking to the visitors of the Freightliner stand at the Melbourne Truck Show,” he said.
“The Revolution Innovation Truck highlights our global engineering expertise and depth of resources that will continue to result in world-class solutions that will shape future transportation.
“We are creating a unique display for the Revolution at the show that will highlight its many innovative features. In addition to the Revolution Innovation Truck, we will have an exciting range of Freightliners on display including the Coronado 114, engineered and built specifically for the Australian market.”
