Fresh-faced Renault Master van arriving soon

New-generation Renault Master van confirmed for Australia, due mid-year

The first 'all-new' Renault Master van in more than a decade is due to arrive in Australian showrooms in June.

Designed in a wind tunnel for optimum aerodynamic efficiency, the new Master van will be available with either diesel or electric power for the first time, along with mid- and long-wheelbase, and mid- and high-roof options; and up to 1973kg payload and 4000kg GVM.

Local importer the Ateco Group says the new mid-size delivery van and popular camper conversion also comes with a range of new technology – and a ‘Platinum’ safety rating from European NCAP.

It also gets more power and torque (125kW/380Nm) from the 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, plus more safety equipment and load-carrying capacity than the model it replaces.

The updated engine is paired with a more efficient nine-speed automatic transmission, with service intervals of 12 months or 30,000km (whichever comes first).

A revised driver's cabin incorporates a larger infotainment screen while the middle of the three seats is available with an optional workstation which, when folded down, provides a flat workspace.

The electric Renault Master E-Tech is equipped with an 87kWh battery pack, which delivers more than 400km of driving range on a single charge according to WLTP testing criteria, and has a maximum charging speed of 130kW.

Electric versions have a payload up to 1164kg and a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) up to 3500kg.

The side door is large enough to fit a forklift pallet and there is a flat bulkhead behind the front seats to maximise load space.

Prices, specifications and the complete model line-up will be announced closer to showroom arrivals.

“The new-generation Renault Master is a game-changer with its added safety, capability, and improved efficiency,” said Renault Australia General Manager, Glen Sealey.

“We know the large van segment is highly competitive in Australia but the new Renault Master has already proven itself in Europe, where it has received numerous awards."

Sealey said the new-generation Renault Master is a key part of Renault Australia’s model revitalisation.

“Last year Renault Australia promised six new models in the next 18 months and the new-generation Renault Master shows we are delivering. Plus there is more to come,” he said.
