The world’s first all-electric light truck has claimed yet another European city as its home turf.
Since March 2020, two Fuso eCanters have been operating in the Irish capital of Dublin for the country’s postal service An Post. Fuso says the eCanter is now running in ten cities across Europe including the countries of Germany, the UK, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Denmark and Ireland.
Daimler Trucks and Fuso Europe tell us they are delighted to be working with An Post as they become the first postal service in the world to attain zero carbon emission delivery status within a capital city.

Since launching the eCanter in October 2017, Fuso has achieved its initial sales target of 150 units in since the first delivery to a customer. More deliveries in Europe, Japan and the United states are set to follow successively.
Although Fuso Australia has been keen to get stocks of eCanter here, a spokesman said it won’t be for a while: “Although we’re hopeful that eCanter will be available in the not-too-distant future, nothing has been confirmed at this stage,” spokesman James Stanford said.
So far, the global eCanter fleet has achieved 1.6 million kilometres in customer operations.
With a range of 100 kilometres, the 7.49 tonne vehicle can meet the inner-city short-range distribution requirements of its customers. The electric drive system carries a motor with a maximum output of 129kW and maximum torque of 390Nm. The motor is fed by six high-voltage lithium-ion battery packs each with 420V and 13.8kWh.
With quick-charging stations, the vehicle only takes approximately one and a half hours to fully recharge.
