Fuso tipper adds a tonne

Fuso’s Built Ready Wide Cab Canter Tipper has gained an extra tonne of capacity

Fuso has announced that a range of engineering upgrades has enabled the tipper to get a GVM increase to 7.5 tonnes and its GCM to rise to 11 tonnes.

Fuso has also confirmed the upgraded Wide Cab Canter Tipper has also increased its cubic carrying capacity by more than 14 per cent to 2.4 cubic metres.

This is a result of increasing the length of the tipper body by 300mm, for a total internal body length measurement of 3150mm.

Tipping is said to be even easier thanks to a larger hydraulic lift cylinder running at a higher pressure (8.0MPA) and a revised tipper hoist stroke that allows for a maximum tip angle of 60 degrees (up five degrees on the current model).

“The Fuso tipper models are well known for their durability and toughness,” said Fuso Truck and Bus Director, Justin Whitford.

“We are pleased to announce these upgrades to the Wide Cab Canter Tipper, which will mean a lot to drivers delivering load after load who will enjoy a further boost in productivity.”

The Wide Cab Canter Tipper is available with a manual gearbox or Fuso’s automated DCT transmission. And we’re told the choice of transmission does not affect the GVM or GCM rating of the vehicle.

Both the Wide Cab Canter Tipper and its narrow-body City Cab sibling are the only Japanese tippers in their class with a Limited Slip Differential as standard. Also aiding traction are chunky rear tyres designed for slippery job sites.

All Canter tipper models can be specified with 4.5 tonne GVM certification, which allows for them to be driven on a car licence while maintaining a useable payload thanks to the Canter’s low tare weight.

They are part of Fuso’s recently expanded Built Ready range, which includes eight different models that can be purchased with bodies already fitted.

Built Ready models available include Canter tippers, trays, fridge trucks and pantechs, as well as the larger Fighter tipper and tautliners.

Canter factory tippers are covered by a manufacturer warranty for five years or 200,000km, whichever comes first.
