Fuso has strengthened its position in the heavy-duty segment with the launch of the new Shogun 530, which the brand claims is now the most powerful Japanese truck available in Australia.
Headlining an updated Shogun range, the 530 variant produces 530hp and 2600Nm of torque from its upgraded 13-litre 6R30 engine, giving it a claimed 50hp and more than 400Nm advantage over its nearest Japanese rivals.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, said the new model builds on an already strong foundation.
“We were already out in front of our rivals with the 510 horsepower Shogun, so we are especially pleased to deliver our customers a Shogun with 530 horsepower that further extends its lead,” he said.

“We know our customers will love this truck. I don’t know about you, but I have never heard anyone complain about having too much power.”
The new engine not only delivers an extra 20hp and 100Nm over the outgoing version, but also improves efficiency, while an engine brake generating up to 1750Nm adds further capability on long descents.
Matched to a 12-speed automated manual transmission with an improved creep function, the Shogun 530 is also rated to a 70-tonne Gross Combination Mass (GCM), broadening its appeal across linehaul and heavy-duty applications.
Beyond outright performance, Fuso has rolled out a series of upgrades across the Shogun line-up, including a redesigned cab for improved aerodynamics, full-LED lighting, and a refreshed interior.
Cabin enhancements include new ISRI seating across the range, with the flagship 530 gaining a heated leather driver’s seat, alongside updated trim, new electronic park brake, new key fob, revised instrument cluster and a multimedia system with wireless Apple and Android connectivity.

Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Vice President Sales, Marketing and Operations, Andrew Assimo, said the updates were driven by customer feedback.
“The existing Shogun has been extremely popular in Australia and has been setting new sales records, but we took the opportunity to introduce several upgrades that would make it even better again,” he said.
“More GCM, a new engine with more power and torque, the latest safety package and a big comfort boost with new seats mean the new Shogun is an incredible package.”
Technology has also taken a step forward, with all models now fitted with Truckonnect telematics as standard, including a five-year subscription, giving operators access to real-time vehicle data and fleet insights.

Safety has been further enhanced with a new active safety suite combining five radars and a forward-facing camera. Systems such as Active Brake Assist 6 and Side Guard Assist 2.0 can not only warn drivers of hazards but also intervene with braking if required.
The Shogun range includes three different engines - 8-litre, 11-litre and 13-litre 6R30 engine. It is also available across multiple configurations including 4x2, 6x2, 6x4 and 8x4, as well as rigid and prime mover variants.
