Gearing up for Geelong Convoy

Registration opens for 2016 Camp Quality Geelong Convoy

Love is definitely in the air for the 2016 Camp Quality Geelong Convoy, with the mass charity run scheduled to see trucks in their hundreds gather for a great cause on Valentine's Day on Sunday, February 14.

This year's inaugural event was by all accounts a massive success, with over 220 gleaming rigs – and around 60 motorcycles – taking part in the procession from Avalon Airport, west of Melbourne, to the Geelong Showgrounds.

Tens of thousands of dollars were raised for Camp Quality Victoria, the funds helping the charity assist kids with cancer, and their families, through what is one of life's toughest challenges.

Registration is now open for the event and costs just $50 per truck or bike. As an added incentive, the first 100 vehicles to register will receive a discounted registration rate of just $35 – a pittance to pay for a great day out, while helping kids in need.

Organisers says they're already hard at work on the 2016 event, which promises to build on this year's achievements and take the run to the next level. Next year will see the adoption of a new route, while the convoy will be supported by a new-look website and logo.

Before the Camp Quality Geelong Convoy there hadn't been a major convoy in the Melbourne area for many years. Judging by the inaugural convoy, this event looks set to become a major fixture on the trucking calendar, rivalling other similar runs in New South Wales and Queensland.

According to Lee Emberton, Camp Quality State Manager for Victoria and Tasmania, the organisers have high hopes for next year's convoy.

"Last year all involved in the Camp Quality Geelong Convoy were blown away with the support, but in 2016 we aim to deliver an event that is twice the size," he said.

"With a revised route and an energised group of truckers behind us, the 2016 event hopes to surpass 500 trucks and motorbikes – which will be an outstanding achievement.

"With early-bird registrations now open, sponsorship packages on offer and donations being sourced for the charity auction at Ritchie Bro's Corio, Camp Quality Victoria is already a buzz with excitement for our second Geelong Convoy."

A microsite has been launched for the three Camp Quality Convoys held in Townsville (Qld), the Illawarra (NSW) and now Geelong (Vic). Visit www.convoy.org.au for more information.
