Relief Driver is the brainchild of Sunshine Coast owner-driver Adam Wells, who saw the need for two-way communication between truck owners and part-time drivers.
With some expert help he implemented the app and trialled it for several months in south east Queensland, before making it available nation-wide.
Relief Driver replaces old-fashioned paper diaries and phone miscommunications with a quick and easy-to-use mobile app that helps both truck owners and drivers to book quickly.
“After being a truck driver for more than 20 years, I knew there had to be a better way for drivers to book jobs without the usual hassles,” said Adam Wells. “So I got to work creating an industry-specific solution that brings a modern approach to an everyday problem.”

The app allows experienced drivers to list their license class, create their driving profiles, list available dates and show their day and night rates.
Using Relief Driver, truck drivers across Australia can have consistent relief driver work, or take on driving jobs that suit them, whether they’re after a casual job, or travelling Australia nomadically, picking up driving jobs that fund their travels.
The app comes with a free six-month trial, to encourage as many drivers across Australia to join. To celebrate the national launch of the Relief Driver app, a $500 cash giveaway will be given to one lucky driver who joins the app by August 31, 2024.

South Queensland trialists who evaluated the Relief Driver app have found it very useful: “The Relief Driver app is a great concept,” agreed two owner drivers, who’ve used the app.
“As an owner you simply list the days you need off and it finds you a driver who has the accreditation to drive your truck.”
As Relief Driver becomes more widely used, Adam Wells is confident it will provide a part solution to the driver shortage among truck fleets.
The Relief Driver can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. More information is available here.
