The Glen Cameron Group says it has gone green with four new Euro 6 Mercedes-Benz trucks.
Company MD, Glen Cameron, took delivery of the new trucks from Daimler Truck and Bus Australia President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, at Daimler Trucks Laverton in Melbourne’s west.
Glen Cameron trucks traditionally sport a yellow and white livery, but the new Mercedes-Benz trucks also feature a green stripe that demonstrates the company’s commitment to the environment.
Mercedes-Benz offers a full range of Euro 6 models, which cut particulate matter by 99 per cent and reduce nitrogen oxides by 97 per cent while delivering fuel economy savings of more than seven per cent.
Commenting on the new trucks, Cameron said: “Our strategy is to continually look at new innovative technologies that will reduce the aggregate carbon footprint across our entire business and procuring Euro 6 vehicles is an important part of that.
Indeed, our customers like Coles, where these trucks are going to work, share our environmental values where we work together on these initiatives. Certainly they were very supportive in replacing the current Euro 5 trucks in the fleet with the new Mercedes Benz Euro 6 fleet”
Mr Whitehead says it is great to see the new generation Mercedes-Benz decked out in Cameron Group colours.
“Mercedes-Benz and Glen Cameron have had a long and rewarding relationship and we are very pleased for that to enter a new stage with our Euro 6 generation truck,” he said.
“Our new generation Mercedes-Benz range has proven that it is possible for Australian operators to use less fuel and less AdBlue while cutting emissions at the same time,” Mr Whitehead concludes.
Safety is also a priority for the Glen Cameron Group and it has chosen to have the Safety Pack fitted to all of its Mercedes-Benz trucks.
The safety pack features technology that can initiate automatic emergency braking for pedestrians as well as vehicles, automatically adjust the truck’s speed to maintain a safe distance between it and the vehicle in front, alert the driver if the truck wanders out of its lane and even warn the driver if they show signs of fatigue.
The Glen Cameron Group Mercedes-Benz trucks are efficient six-cylinder 11-litre models with 430hp and 2100Nm of torque.
