When Victorian firm Adornato Sand & Gravel Supplies was looking to expand its business, it turned to Hamelex White, a Performance Based Standards (PBS) trailer specialist, to improve its bottom line.
The company’s owner, Ross Adornato, purchased two Hamelex White rigid and dog trailer combinations, which now complement the company’s fleet of 12 prime movers, two rigids, two water tankers and one low loader.
Importantly, says Ross, the latest additions were constructed under the PBS framework.
“To me, the biggest factor the two bring to the table is that Hamelex White designed them around the Performance Based Standards (PBS) scheme,” he says.
“Now we have lightweight trailers capable of hauling huge payloads without compromising on road performance.”
In utilising the PBS scheme Hamelex White was able to alter the trailers’ dimensions beyond those of the usual legal limits, giving them extra capacity. On top of that, stripping weight from the trailers has enhanced their payload.
“Hamelex White was also able to eliminate unnecessary weight from the trailer, giving us an extra 4.5 tonnes of load across the whole combination,” says Ross. “In our industry, where drivers need to make the most of every trip, we now have the equipment in place to maximise our productivity.”
Both dog trailers also feature lift axles, reducing tyre wear and fuel consumption when unladen.
Ross says he’s sold on Hamelex White’s trailers and service.
“Good relationships and solid-performing products are what I base the company’s choices around, which is why I’ve been sourcing most of my trailers from Hamelex White since I started as Managing Director in 1999,” he says.
