Hammar launches two new anniversary sideloaders

Fifty years in the caper calls for a major product celebration

Fifty years after Hammar was launched in Sweden, the sideloader company has launched two new anniversary models: the Hammar 550 and the flagship Hammar 500.

The 550 is the world’s first sideloader with a 50-tonne safe working load and, while initially developed for handling large cable drums, it’s also suitable for myriad of other applications.

The Hammar 500 boasts a 45-tonne lifting capacity and can stack containers up to 17.1 tonnes two rows deep – all achieved with a six-metre reach.

“Hammar’s 50th anniversary is just the beginning of a new chapter in the company’s history,” said Bengt-Olof Hammar, CEO and owner.

“We very much look forward to continuing to be the driving force in the industry, with a focus on service, innovation, quality and sustainability.”

The Hammar 500 will make its Aussie debut at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show.

Hammar’s sole focus on sideloaders has seen it grow into an international powerhouse, with an estimated 65-70 per cent share of the global market.

“Performing the first lifts with the first sideloader I built is one of my strongest memories during my 50-year journey with the company,” says Bengt-Olof Hammar.

“We are proud of its history and what it says about Hammar. It demonstrates the principles we stand behind, high quality and satisfied customers.”
