Children’s charity Brainwave Australia recently received a $16,000 donation from Freightliner Australia, after the distributor auctioned off one of its exclusive Harley-Davidson Freightliner Coronado 114s.
Featuring a striking black paint scheme and a number of Harley custom touches, the rig was used to haul Harley’s merchandise and special-events trailers to a variety of major events through 2013, and is very similar to the Harley truck that featured at Melbourne’s recent International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show (also shown).
The truck was auctioned off at a special event at Seaworks in Williamstown, Melbourne, as a part of the brand’s 25th anniversary of operations in this country, with Australian actor Shane Jacobson conducting proceedings. The event also saw Freightliner reveal its stunning Freightliner Coronado 114 25th Anniversary Edition. The winning bid was placed by Daimler Trucks Perth, which is a part of the massive Australia automotive empire, AHG.
Freightliner Australia’s General Manager, Kristi Walker, said the money raised was going to an eminently worthy cause.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome of tonight’s auction,” she said.
“To be able to donate $16,000 to Brainwave, our partner charity, is an outstanding result. I’m sure the money will go a long way to supporting children with paediatric illnesses and their families.”
The donation comes as Freightliner Australia marks its 20th year of supporting the charity.
The Chairman of Brainwave Australia, David Blackley, expressed his appreciation of Freightliner Australia’s ongoing support.
“We were so excited to hear the news of Freightliner’s successful customer auction,” he said.
“The money raised will be invaluable in helping us support these children and their families, who are going through some tough times. Thank you to AHG for purchasing the truck and to Kristi and her team for their ongoing support of Brainwave.”
The Dealer Principal of Daimler Trucks Perth, Simon Ramsay, said the Harley truck was sure to attract plenty of attention.
“The customised Coronado 114 will appeal to many of our customers who share a passion for Harley-Davidson as well as Freightliner,” he said.
“As a group, AHG supports more than 150 charitable and community groups across Australia and we hope the money donated to Brainwave helps to support children with brain illnesses and their families.”
