Healthy Heads takes to the road

The Healthy Heads in Truck & Sheds road transport and logistics mental health initiative is taking to the open road, with the organisation embarking on a national tour in a customised rigid truck to provide mental health support to drivers, along with warehouse and distribution centre staff.

The HHTS Roadshow truck, a medium-duty DAF LF, was initiated by PACCAR Australia, its dealers, and the Australian Trucking Association, with crucial funding for the program also coming from the NHVR via the Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative.

Fuel heavyweight BP has also thrown its support behind the program, giving HHTS access to its network of over 500 sites throughout the country.

The Roadshow is scheduled to take in 18 major industry events throughout 2022, where it will provide mental health support to members of the transport industry. HHTS staff will also distribute pocket-sized handbooks promoting mental health and wellbeing tips, while also directing people to the free Healthy Heads smartphone app.

NHVR CEO, Sal Petroccitto, echoed the sentiment.

“With close to half a million heavy vehicles on our roads, improving the mental health and wellbeing of everyone in the industry is a priority for the NHVR, and is pivotal in keeping all road users safe,” he said.

The HHTS Roadshow will be taking to the road in March, kicking off with events at BP facilities in Albury, Marulan, and Gundagai. Click here for more details.
